Everything Havn.ai does
A claim is a dozen jobs at once — reading a policy you've never read, keeping receipts you didn't plan to keep, comparing estimates you can't interpret. Here is each of them, and what the app actually does about it.
Read and sort every document
Upload a policy PDF, a crumpled receipt photo, an adjuster letter, a contractor estimate, a photo of a soaked living room — however it arrives. Havn.ai runs OCR over it, identifies what it is, and files it into the right part of your claim.
- Any format. PDFs, phone photos, screenshots, scans. Drag and drop on the web, camera or files on the phone.
- Typed automatically. Policy, receipt, estimate, letter, payment explanation, photo — with a chip on every card to re-file anything it got wrong.
- Photos in five stages. Before the loss, damage, emergency work, in progress, repaired — so a packet can show the sequence, not a pile.
- Duplicates flagged. Upload the same file twice and it says so instead of quietly doubling a number.
Understand your own coverage
Your declarations page holds the four numbers that decide most of your claim, buried in a 40-page document. Havn.ai reads them out: dwelling (Coverage A), other structures (B), personal property (C), and loss of use (D) — plus your deductible — into one card you confirm yourself.
- You confirm every figure. Extractions below the confidence threshold are flagged for review rather than silently trusted.
- More than one policy. Uploaded a renewal or a separate flood policy? Each is kept, one is primary, and you choose which.
- Ask it anything. The assistant answers from your own documents, quoting the page — or tells you it doesn't see that in them. It never invents a policy term.
Track what displacement costs you
If you can't live at home, your loss-of-use coverage reimburses the extra you spend because of it — and the money people leave behind is almost never the hotel. It's the laundromat, the pet boarding, the storage unit, the extra miles to school.
- Receipts become expenses. Photograph one and the vendor, date and total are read off it for you to confirm.
- Mileage from your routine. Describe a normal week and Havn.ai computes the overage — the extra miles versus your usual commute — at the current rate.
- A running ledger against your limit. Category breakdown, days displaced, and a flag when you approach the loss-of-use cap.
- Missing receipts, before you hand it over. One filter shows every expense with nothing attached.
- Submission status. Mark what you've sent, what came back paid, partially paid or denied, and what's still outstanding.
Value what you lost
A contents inventory is the single most tedious part of a claim, and the part adjusters most often send back. Photograph a damaged room and Havn.ai proposes the items it sees; you confirm each one, and nothing unconfirmed ever moves a number.
- Room by room. Quantity, condition, age, replacement cost and actual cash value per item, rolled up per room and against your Coverage C limit.
- Replacement prices looked up. Search an item and pull a current price in, rather than guessing at what a six-year-old sofa cost.
- Proposals are proposals. AI suggestions sit in a review list until you confirm, edit or dismiss them.
Compare estimates without a construction background
Two estimates for the same kitchen rarely list the same lines. Havn.ai lays every insurer and contractor estimate side by side — rooms down, estimates across.
- Room-by-room subtotals with the spread and the lowest bid per room highlighted.
- Line items explained in plain English — what “R&R drywall 1/2in” is and why it's priced that way.
- A rebuild budget. Your insurer's estimate is an allowance, not a work order. Mark each line as doing less, as scoped, or doing more, and see what you'd cover out of pocket and what you'd free up.
- Payments tracked. Every insurer check recorded against what was estimated — received, held in escrow, still owed.
Make sense of the letters
Adjuster letters are the parts of a claim people read three times and still can't act on.
Denials and underpayments
A plain-language summary of what was decided, the reasons the letter states, and the exact passages from your own policy it relies on — quoted with page numbers. More →
Payment explanations
A check arrives with a page of line items and no explanation. Havn.ai reads the amount and offers to record it against the expenses it likely covers.
A timeline that holds up
Letters, calls, inspections and deadlines in one dated record — including a call log where you note who said what and what they committed to.
The report your adjuster asks for
One tap builds a PDF packet: coverage snapshot, expense ledger with receipts flagged, estimate comparison, contents inventory, timeline, and a document index — every number traced to the document it came from. Choose the sections, attach the receipts as a zip, export the expenses as CSV, and email it yourself.
The details that matter at 2am
- Full dark mode on every screen — claim paperwork rarely happens at a reasonable hour.
- English and Spanish throughout, including the reports.
- Works everywhere. The beta runs in any browser; the iPhone app is in private testing and Android is planned.
- Private by construction. Files stored privately per account, opened through links that expire in minutes, hard-deleted when you say so.
- Deadline reminders for the dates you record, so a proof-of-loss window doesn't pass unnoticed.
